Salty Post from Holly

Hello from Holly

I’ve been thinking for a while about how to share work without feeling like I’m constantly feeding the Instagram machine, so this feels like a nicer alternative.

Welcome to Salty Post.

This is where I’ll send occasional notes from the studio here in Cornwall or wherever else I find myself. Bits of process, works in progress, things I’m looking at, sea weather, colour palettes, failed paintings, and first access to new pieces and print drops before they go anywhere public.

Nothing too polished. Just a slower way of sharing things.

Studio floor headlines this week:

  • Far too many paintings of The Ship Inn in Porthleven.

  • Remnants of my grandma’s old dining table cover.

  • The usual cups of tea that go cold and then get ignored.

  • Hangings of photos of people that make me tremendously happy.

  • Re-reading of Mike Browns Artist Manifesto.

In slightly less romantic news, I’ve also managed to bang my right index finger with a mallet while helping out on a community farm. So painting is on pause for a moment while it decides what it thinks about that.

Which means I’ve ended up doing admin instead, catching up, sorting things properly, and trying to get back on top of all the parts of being an artist that don’t involve paint.

I’ll share some previews of new work properly soon, including the Porthleven paintings, whether they behave or not.

In the meantime, thank you for being here early. It means a lot to have people following along outside of social media.

Holly,

somewhere on the north coast.
